
1970 Mercury Cougar Convertible-Owned by Bill and Kathy Shelton
of Cabot-This car has a 351 Cleveland engine, sequential turn signals,
concealed dual headlamps with retracting covers, AM radio with
8-track player, and a folding glass rear window. Only 2,322 1970 Cougar
convertibles were manufactured. The car cost $3,264 new. The
same family has owned the car since it was new. It was first purchased in
Hollywood, California on July 3, 1970 (30 years TO THE DAY before the
Christian Car Club of Cabot, Arkansas was formed!). It was owned by the
late Ed Hart, financial news commentator for CNBC/Financial News Network,
and radio station KNX of Los Angeles. Bill and Kathy Shelton, son-in-law
and daughter of Ed Hart, now own it. It has over 152,000 miles on the
odometer – this was a DRIVEN car! The car was stolen in Los Angeles in 1983
and 1989 (yes, it was recovered both times). The car was brought to Arkansas in 1994.
