John's 1936 Business coupe was a 34 month project project that began with a
trip to Blue Springs Mo. to find a solid original car that had spent most of its life
in Kansas. The ground up project was an effort to develop a go anywhere driver
with all of the modern day technology that could be incorporated within a moderate budget.
The car is powered by a Tuned Port Corvette small block w/700R4 transmission and a
posi-track10 bolt rear out of a mid 70's Camaro.
The car has power windows and locks, Vintage Air Conditioning, power seats, power
trunk lift, Air Ride suspension, six VDO gauges, Sanderson Headers, and Corvette Wheels.
The interior and trunk are covered in a Midnight blue leather with Grey carpeting
and headliner that was stitched by Buddies Upholstery in Cabot. The only
component of the car that is not GM is the Mustang II front rack and pinion steering.
The paint consists of 10 coats of PPG Base Coat/Clear coat
that is a custom mixed Midnight Blue.
The coupe was engineered and built by the owner with the paint and bodywork being
completed by Doug Clark of Cabot. The car is very dependable and always gets a
response when the Christian Car Club sticker is noticed, people seem to appreciate that
Christ can be the center of anything
- even an old car.
